We stayed a night at the Queens head hotel and it was just what we needed. A lovely room with little added extras always makes you feel a bit more special than just a bogstandard room. We had dinner as well which was great, we liked the local produce on offer, and breakfast the next day had a good variety of foid to see you through
We chanced upon this very nice hotel restaurant after a day walking around the lovely old town. Service was excellent food very good and an all round nice experience.
I chose this restaurant because of the Tripadvisor reviews. I was not disappointed. A basket with 3 types of interesting and delicious bread, along with sun-dried tomato infused oil is brought to your table. I love that. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and very fresh. It was served with an herb butter and asparagus. My side dish was a beautiful, hot, assortment of veg, including zuchinni, carrots, potatoes, (which were yummy), and green beans. I finished with the parfait, which was amazing. It’s a lemon meringue topped with fresh raspberry sauce. It was the perfect ending to a pefect meal.
A very cute restaurent. Pleasant staff. Healthy and very delicious food! We can strongly recommend to stop by if you have the chance.
Staying at a local caravan park we popped into Berwick and decided to have some lunch. We went for the 2 courses for £14.50.
I had the salmon which was really nicely done and tasty. My partner and mother both had the lasagne and were impressed that everything including the garlic bread was home made.
We were given a plate of fresh breads prior to the starters which was a lovely touch.
This is a real gem of a restaurant.
It is in a great location, tastefully decorated inside and with attentive service.
I would recommend that you book first if at all possible as it is a very popular restaurant.
The food was fresh, home made and extremely tasty and well cooked.
I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to anyone wanting a good dining out experience.
Struggled on Friday, 1 June 2018 to find somewhere to eat in Berwick. Called in to the Queens Head Hotel. We were immediately welcomed, seated and served with a drink and presented with the menu. The restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly. My husband had salmon and I opted for Lasagne. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Iced water and a selection of Italian breads on the table. What a lovely evening. The staff were hard working and attentive. There is nothing I could fault. It’s not the cheapest place to eat but you pay for the quality. It is value for money. Highly recommended.
Very enjoyable staying at this quaint refurbished hotel.
Excellent food and service, room was fine with splendid shower facilities
Would certainly stay there again next time we’re in Berwick upon Tweed
Nicest pub in Berwick , tastefully decorated with superb service and excellent food. The pub is situated near the fort walls in the old town which is far nicer than the town centre. I would definitely recommend and will be back hopefully.
We had trawled around looking for a place to eat (we are fussy !) The Queens Head looked ok and we were offered what turned out to be, very tasty, well presented rolls and a lovely pint of local ale. Just what we wanted !
We were welcomed, with our dog, to enjoy lunch inside the cosy restaurant. The food was excellent, cider was delicious and our dog appreciated the supply of dog treats offered offered by the friendly waitresses.
We stayed in Berwick Upon Tweed for one night and fortunately the owner of the B&B where we were staying recommended the Queens Head for dinner.
We dropped in during the day and booked a table for that evening.
Returning on the night we were greeted by the most pleasant, friendly and helpful staff, the menus was varied and my wife and I both went with a 3 course meal which was absolutely first class, I must also say that the Monk Fish I chose for my main course was the best I have ever tasted and I can assure you, I have Eaton a lot of Monkfish in a great many Restaurant’s.
Should you be visiting Berwick Upon Tweed, don’t miss out on the chance of enjoying some wonderful food, book a table at the Queens Head.
This is a charming little hotel – very welcoming, helpful staff. Attention to detail is amazing, with lots of thoughtful touches in the very well appointed rooms. Very comfortable bed, and a great shower! The food is excellent, and Gary is a terrific host. Our second stay, and we will definitely be back.
We have visited the Queens head several times recently since last review, firstly as 4 for Sunday lunch with our youngest son and his wife, secondly for an evening meal for 2 and thirdly as a family meal for 6 with children aged 9, 7, and 2, and can honestly say thoroughly enjoyed every meal and service, the children’s meal were home made and the kids really liked them no complaints and thinking they want to go back, our evening meal for 2 was excellent and could not fault the Sunday lunch, so all in all top notch
We stayed here recently and used to hotel as a base for a Golf Trip visiting courses in the local area. From the moment we arrived until we left Gary and his staff couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. The rooms are comfy and well equipped and have everything you would need. The meals are fantastic and on a par with hotels that would be twice or three times the price. We had dinner at the hotel the first night and it was superb we couldn’t wait for breakfast the next morning and we were not disappointed. All in all this a fantastic locally run hotel with a great selection of food and drink and great staff.
This is our third year staying at the Queens Head and it did not disappoint. A lovely stay in every respect and we were sorry to leave. Excellent room with plenty of space and lots of cupboards in the bathroom. Room really really clean – no problems with my dust allergy throughout. Breakfast very good. We ate here all four nights as the food is excellent. The Berwick crab salad starter is to die for but everything we had (monkfish, pork, venison) was superb. Staff remembered us and service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
