Testimonials

The room was clean and bright and had everything you needed with thoughtful additions of a fruit bowl and bottles of water. Centrally based it is ideal for all the amenities and access to the wall is a minute’s walk away. It felt a really friendly place. The breakfast was home cooked and tasted lovely.

We called in for lunch on a cold and blustery day and were made extremely welcome. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and super efficient. The Queen’s Head was a real find and is thoroughly recommended.

This place is rated number 1 in Berwick and you can see why. Very attentive service with fabulous food. Cooked and presented to perfection. Very busy for a Sunday evening.

We liked this place, and ate there twice in a 3 night visit. Very varied menu, well presented, as always in Berwick it is friendly. We recommend it highly.

Ate here on Saturday evening. The restaurant has a lovely feel to it. We both had a fillet steak, one cooked medium and the other well done. They wer both cooked to perfection and with a lovely selection of vegetables. Excellent service throughout our visit. We will certainly be back.

Place is quite popular. Local fresh produce cooked pub-style, that is unpretentious. Enjoyed every dish including an obviously fresh hammock with a superb searing. Nice staff, hard-working, polite and quick. Met the owner, always aware of what is happening around. Excellent choice for a meal.

We selected this restaurant on a whim one evening in Berwick and they managed to accommodate us even although we had not made a reservation. The menu contained a wide variety of dishes made from locally sourced produce. Delicious seafood pie and pasta were our choices for the evening.

The staff were really pleasant and made for wonderful evening. Heartily recommended!

First visit to the beautiful town of Berwick on Tweed. Not disappointed with the lovely eatery we found either. Absolutely beautiful food, fab service and atmosphere. The owner said my husband wouldn’t need a steak knife to eat his steak!!! he wasn’t wrong, as the steak just melted when cut, best steak ever.

We ate a lovely evening meal here, mainly choosing fish dishes which were excellent. Service was also excellent and the cost very reasonable. Definately recommended!

Nice lunch here – all had cold meals but was good quality, sandwiches, ploughman’s, crab salads etc. Kids had sausages and was a really generous serving. Reasonable prices, very friendly staff. Tres bien!

I booked to stay here because of other reviews I’d read but wow – how lovely is this place?? Our room was stylish and very comfortable, our hosts were attentive, friendly, helpful and so welcoming and the food is amazing. We were lucky to be fitted in while we were there but I’d recommend you book ahead – at least 6 groups of people were turned away in 20 minutes one night. It’s a cracking little place and we’ll definitely be back.

Great welcome, lovely room, really comfortable beds, great bedding, bathroom a bit on the cosy side. Food was good and breakfast was sumptious ( kippers). Close to the old wall and easy walk to town, couple of real ale bars close by just made it a great stay. Compliments to our hosts Fiona(?) and Garry for making our stay so good with great advice about where to go and quiet but attentive service.

We arrived about 3 pm and were checked in right away. The hotel was situated close to the town centre. Our room was on the first floor a Large room and a large en-suite. We ate at the hotel on both nights and even though the restaurant was busy the food was very good and the service was excellent and the staff very friendly.
Breakfast was prompt and substantial. We really enjoyed the hotel and the town well worth a visit.

Decided to drive up to the Scottish borders for a change from our foreign holidays and can honestly say that this was a fantastic dining experience in a rather unassuming hotel.

The food was delicious & the service could not be faulted. A tad on the expensive side, but worth it for a treat.

Overall, highly rated.

They meet you at the door with a menu and direct you to the bar to order a drink. They then take your order and seat you at a table. Friendly atmosphere, good menu. We would go here again and have no trouble recommending it highly.

Went here for lunch with friends, not the first visit and not the last. Lovely dining room, The service was very good as was the food, three had roast beef and I had battered fish which was very nice, it is well worth a visit you will not be disappointed.

I regularly stay away on work trips, so don’t generally bother to review hotels but the Queen’s Head is a worthy exception.

From being able to park right outside (free), to the warm welcome, the comfortable room with a few treats, powerful shower and huge fluffy towels, all the way to the excellent freshly cooked breakfast (best scrambled eggs in a long time) – there’s nothing not to like about this place.

Berwick on Tweed is a charming town too, with plenty of independent pubs, restaurants and a great river walk.

The Queen’s Head has a menu that makes you want to come back everyday until you’ve sampled everything. How to choose between local crab, quail eggs and scallops for starters! The local Doddington lamb was to die for. So fresh and tasty. We ate there for lunch and dinner, with children, and were made to feel very welcome, with friendly staff, willing to be flexible for requests. Highly recommend.

Very friendly and elegant. We all had lemon sole for dinner and it was delicious. Veges were cooked just right too. Best dining experience in Berwick by far.
