Overnight stay
This hotel has 6 rooms and ours was extremely comfortable with a modern bathroom with amenities. The hotel is an old building but the restaurant and bar have a contemporary feel. The locally sourced food at dinner was excellent. Friendly staff and a warm welcome. Excellent breakfast especially the kippers from Eyemouth. Would recommend.

Wonderful Evening Meal
Out for a coastal walk along Spital and decided to stop at Berwick-upon-Tweed for our tea. So glad we did and was recommended The Queens Head. Food was fabulous, freshly sourced produce and a delight to eat.
Three courses for my husband, starter of prawns, followed by a chicken curry, then his favourite sticky toffee pudding. I had the sea bass which was served just to my liking.
Reasonably priced for excellent quality fresh cooked food.
Nice friendly owner, will definitely be back.

Stayed here for 5 nights while working. A very well equipped, clean and comfortable room complimented by extremely friendly staff and excellent food – a wide range of breakfasts to choose from and an excellent dinner menu too. Located in the centre of Berwick, you couldn’t find a better place to stay.

My wife and I have eaten here many times over the years but I don’t believe I have ever written it up. The pub sits at the bottom of Hide Hill in Berwick and is enormously convenient if you intend to go to the Maltings for a film or play.
Last night we sat down for a light supper at 1830. The owner, who I seem to recall intended to sell at some point, but who has clearly stayed (hurrah) greeted us warmly. We were looked after by Katerine from Berlin. She was everywhere – nobody was ignored, tables were cleared, food arrived promptly – she was a whirling dervish, and all with a smile and good humour. She even took the trouble to spontaneously write down the details of something we should see when we were next in Berlin.
A fun evening. Thank you The Queen’s Head

Stayed for a night en route from York back to Scotland. The owners/staff are welcoming and friendly, the room well appointed, warm with everything we needed, very comfortable bed with extremely cosy bedding. Made an error in not dining at the hotel, but after dining elsewhere we had cheese/biscuits and pudding at the Queen’s Head and it was just the bee’s knees. One of the best places I’ve stayed and I’ve stayed in a few! Thank you.

Lunched here with a pal on a Sunday and had a lovely meal, The soup was tasty and the Sunday lunch was nicely proportioned with nicely cooked vegetables. It isnt cheap but neither very expensive. Its decent value for the quality and the menu has a reasonable choice. Around half a dozen choices per course. The service was exceptional – very professional and attentive. It is located close to the River and there is limited parking directly opposite the hotel. Would have no problem recommending.

pushing 8pm after a very long day I received a fabulous warm, and friendly welcome, offered fresh milk in jug for my room – lovely touch
The room was comfortable and clean – very comfy bed. Several treats that I haven’t seen in £200 a night hotels, an apple & Orange in a bowl – 2 bottles of water, biscuits and chocolate too, but oh the bag of haribo!!!
Down for dinner and the Fillet steak has to be the best ive ever had, the attention to detail on the plate, presentation and cooking was outstanding.
Breakfast the following morning did not disappoint – beautifully cooked, great coffee
Do yourselves a huge favour and book this one you will not regret it. I’ll be back with the Mrs.Thank you for a great stay – good friendly chat throughout.

Found this place by chance while wandering around Berwick thinking about lunch. Were greeted by a quietly enthusiastic and helpful young lady, who seated us and quickly took and delivered our drinks. We o my wanted a light lunch, and we ordered the soup and sandwich ‘special’. We Were served with a delicious and not bowl of soup and a half sandwich, which was also very nice. Good value at under £7.00. The young lady must have been powered by duracell, as she was constantly on the move, efficiently taking and delivering orders with a pleasant and cheerful manner. Place was spotless. Would recommend.

My wife and I stopped off in Berwick-upon-Tweed to break up our drive and to have some lunch and called in here. Staff are all really welcoming and friendly and made special effort with decorating our table as we had just gotten married the week previous, even though they had only just found this out through chatting when we first arrived!

Big and tasty portion for lunch; would recommend the fish and chips and beef with Yorkshire puds.

My wife and I regularly do the journey between Newcastle and Dundee and thought we would treat ourselves to a bite to eat along with our canine companion. The positive reviews we read for the Queenshead lived up to expectation. Food and service were canny good! We will certainly be paying them another visit in the future.

Visited early evening in February with friends. Lots of choice on the menu, I had the venison stew followed by Lemon & Gin parfait, which were both excellent. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back, and I will take the dog next time having found out it welcomes dogs.

Our fourth meal at the Queens Head and all have been excellent. This time we both had fillet steak, cooked to perfection in both cases and with really creative additions including haggis. Great cheese board and really friendly staff. We will be back.

We stayed in this stunning little hotel on Friday night. Very central, just a few minutes walk from everything. The room was very spacious, very clean and well equipped. The little extra touches in the room definitely added to our stay. The hotel had lots of character and is beautifully decorated. Staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Breakfast was superb too! Will be back as soon as possible. Thank you, Tracey and Darryl.

What a great experience we had for our belated works Xmas party for a table of 25. Garry had hand written us a 3 course set menu to cater for everyone and delivered exceptional food and service.

Would highly recommend “The Queens Head” if you are after the best food, drink and attention to detail from a small professional/team.

Keep up the good work Garry and team, we will be booking every year as well as the majority of the team supporting this fine restaurant with their family and friends all year round.

Fantastic place!!

Had a lovely meal here. The waitress/ hostess was a lovely lady. My partner has intolerance to chilli and capsicums, she was able to warn him off certain things and guide him to others. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Berwick as the food was delicious and they even gave me a recipe for part of the meal.

What a great place to eat. Excellent service from lovely staff and a menu which is just that little bit different from other places. Recommended

A slightly hesitant welcome was probably because tourists are a bit unexpected in early March but it might have been a matter of timing because no sooner had we been seated at a table by the door than the locals started arriving in droves, all clearly enthusiastic about the place. Two very pleasant young waitresses and excellent food soon cleared any doubts and an excellent rating is well deserved. Haddock was particularly pleasing with lovely light batter, and although my hake was a trifle sparse it was perfectly prepared. Full marks!

This is a family-run, quiet, friendly restaurant, which obviously attracts both tourists and locals – with good reason. The menu is imaginative but uses good, locally sourced ingredients, in a simple, delicious way.
The staff are all well aware of cross contamination issues, so I ate in perfect confidence, both breakfast and dinner for 3 days.
A really extra-special place for those of us with coeliac disease.

Our group of 8 friends had planned to meet in another Berwick restaurant – which was temporarily closed! – so we arrived here by fortuitous ‘accident’.

Most of us had fish and chips and they were easily amongst the best fish and chips we’ve had in our regular meetings all over the country. The chips were made with potatoes rather than reconstituted mash and they were properly cooked! The fish was tasty with a delightful light, crisp, batter plus fresh peas. Congratulations to the chef/s as we all received a hot meal within a reasonable timescale – something a number of hostelries have struggled with over the years!

We’re quite a disparate group and it is not often that we agree on anything but we would all return here !

My first taste tonight was that of remorse.
Remorse that I’ve not been here for almost a year.
Came here tonight to celebrate a wedding anniversary, had our wedding celebration at the Queens four years ago and it never fails to disappoint. Every dish we had was delicious, staff were great. Anyone staying at the Queens hotel or visiting Berwick should definitely book a meal here.

Lovely little hotel , great breakfast the kippers were excellent!! Rooms were comfortable and the ensuite although small was more than adequate. The hotel is in a great location to access the local pubs and to also walk the walls. Terrific hosts who made us all feel welcome, nice little bar, the food in the restaurant looked great but unfortunately we had booked elsewhere

Ate here on a trip through Berwick. Delicious food (an unusual and excellent take on bruschetta and a rich cheesecake were highlights) matched with charming and friendly service

Fantastic menu on offer for Mother’s day. Highly impressed with the service. The food was brilliant. Mackerel cheesecake to start was pure brilliance.

A gem
After a lovely but exhausting day at Lindasfarne headed to Berwick. Did not want to spend ages looking for somewhere to eat so literally went in the first place we saw! How lucky we were to stumble on such a gem. Sat by the bar while they got drinks and menus for us then escorted to our table for six. Fantastic choice on the menu and very reasonably priced. Really tasty food cannot recommend highly enough! 10/10

Nice meal in a historic hotel
The building is lovely and I’d wanted to eat there for a while, however, once outside, their boards of ‘sample’ menus were confusing and with a vegan in our party and some other specific dietary needs, we were a little wary. We went inside and the gentleman greeting us was very reassuring and helpful. drinks in the bar were followed by a lovely meal in the restaurant. My pork loin was cooked beautifully, our vegan enjoyed her meal too.

Service wise, they were efficient and helpful. I was very grateful to the staff for offering to take drinks to the table for us, there were steps in the dining area and though I do not look like I have mobility issues there was a fair chance that if they hadn’t done that for me, I could have dropped it.

Again, a gorgeous old building meant toilets were up some pretty steep stairs. That’s what I expected though.

Evening Meal
We stumbled on the Queens Head Hotel during a brief visit to Berwick-upon-Tweed and had such a lovely evening meal. We were earlier than the opening time but the weather was bad and Katrine the hostess was such a lovely welcoming host opening up early for us. We were made to feel really welcome and arrived at our table where fresh water and bread awaited. The food was excellent and our little dog was also made a great fuss of. We chatted with some of the other guests and had a really relaxing evening with Katrine ensuring that we had all we needed. I cannot recommend enough. Good food good wine and a really enjoyable evening.

Lunch on a History Society Visit
We visited Berwick as a History Society and had a short(ish) break for lunch. We had pre-booked the restaurant for 4 people, but in the event, 6 turned up to this charming venue in the heart of the town. This constituted no problem for the restaurant which promptly ensured that we could all be accommodated. The food was excellent and well served: most of the party had Haddock and chips whilst I opted for the turkey curry with naan bread. I cannot speak for the Haddock and chips save to observe that the plates were toally empty by the end of the course. The curry as fine – not too hot, but spiced adequately and the naan bread was a delight – crisp and fresh and in small pieces for ease of use. The desserts and coffee for those that had them, were well received and enjoyed. The overall cost of the lunch for 6 at about £95 was perfectly reasonable. It was a pleasure to lunch there and I’m sure that we will return
I cannot end without mentioning our waitress, a very charming German girl, who was vivacious, witty and great fun, obviously enjoying herself serving us. I hope that the Hotel realises what a treasure it has in her and I would say that she enhanced our lunching experience, which was already a pleasure.
Overall, a great experience in comfortable surroundings and I did note that the Hotel/restaurant carries a “dogs welcome” notice, which although not applicable to our party, might be useful to other people contemplating going there. I commend it wholeheartedly for good food and a great atmosphere and thank again, the excellent staff.
