Stayed here for 5 nights while working. A very well equipped, clean and comfortable room complimented by extremely friendly staff and excellent food – a wide range of breakfasts to choose from and an excellent dinner menu too. Located in the centre of Berwick, you couldn’t find a better place to stay.
Stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights last week due to work locally
Staff very friendly
Room was very clean and tidy with plenty of refreshments in room.
Breakfast was outstanding so much I couldn’t eat all of it.
Overall a very nice place for stopping over for work or leisure
Defo would stay there again on next visit
My wife and I have eaten here many times over the years but I don’t believe I have ever written it up. The pub sits at the bottom of Hide Hill in Berwick and is enormously convenient if you intend to go to the Maltings for a film or play.
Last night we sat down for a light supper at 1830. The owner, who I seem to recall intended to sell at some point, but who has clearly stayed (hurrah) greeted us warmly. We were looked after by Katerine from Berlin. She was everywhere – nobody was ignored, tables were cleared, food arrived promptly – she was a whirling dervish, and all with a smile and good humour. She even took the trouble to spontaneously write down the details of something we should see when we were next in Berlin.
A fun evening. Thank you The Queen’s Head
Stayed for a night en route from York back to Scotland. The owners/staff are welcoming and friendly, the room well appointed, warm with everything we needed, very comfortable bed with extremely cosy bedding. Made an error in not dining at the hotel, but after dining elsewhere we had cheese/biscuits and pudding at the Queen’s Head and it was just the bee’s knees. One of the best places I’ve stayed and I’ve stayed in a few! Thank you.
Lunched here with a pal on a Sunday and had a lovely meal, The soup was tasty and the Sunday lunch was nicely proportioned with nicely cooked vegetables. It isnt cheap but neither very expensive. Its decent value for the quality and the menu has a reasonable choice. Around half a dozen choices per course. The service was exceptional – very professional and attentive. It is located close to the River and there is limited parking directly opposite the hotel. Would have no problem recommending.
fantastic family run service, very clean and homely room with two very comfortable single beds some jelly sweets and chocolate bar when normally its a biscuit elsewhere.
felt like a valued customer on my visit and would recommend to anyone thinking of staying in Berwick.
i will definitely be staying again in the future.
thanks very much.
The Queens Head is ideally situated in the centre of town. There is some limited time disc parking directly outside (2 hours), and one of the main town car parks, which is free, is a hundred yards away, through the archway.
Check-in was friendly and efficient and our room (number 3) was nicely decorated, spacious, and very comfortable. The en-suite was also smart and had good quality toiletries and super, big fluffy towels. As mentioned by other travellers, the provided fresh fruit, water, biscuits etc are a nice touch and much appreciated.
Breakfast was very nice and included fresh fruits and cereals as well as the cooked options which included a fried breakfast or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.
The bottom line is that the Queens Head is a really good hotel run by nice people. The price represents fair value; the location is ideal; and we would certainly come back again.
Needed to stay over in Berwick for work – a quick search brought up the Queens Head Hotel – duly booked.
pushing 8pm after a very long day I received a fabulous warm, and friendly welcome, offered fresh milk in jug for my room – lovely touch
The room was comfortable and clean – very comfy bed. Several treats that I haven’t seen in £200 a night hotels, an apple & Orange in a bowl – 2 bottles of water, biscuits and chocolate too, but oh the bag of haribo!!!
Down for dinner and the Fillet steak has to be the best ive ever had, the attention to detail on the plate, presentation and cooking was outstanding.
Breakfast the following morning did not disappoint – beautifully cooked, great coffee
Do yourselves a huge favour and book this one you will not regret it. I’ll be back with the Mrs.
Thank you for a great stay – good friendly chat throughout.
Found this place by chance while wandering around Berwick thinking about lunch. Were greeted by a quietly enthusiastic and helpful young lady, who seated us and quickly took and delivered our drinks. We o my wanted a light lunch, and we ordered the soup and sandwich ‘special’. We Were served with a delicious and not bowl of soup and a half sandwich, which was also very nice. Good value at under £7.00. The young lady must have been powered by duracell, as she was constantly on the move, efficiently taking and delivering orders with a pleasant and cheerful manner. Place was spotless. Would recommend.Read less
My wife and I stopped off in Berwick-upon-Tweed to break up our drive and to have some lunch and called in here. Staff are all really welcoming and friendly and made special effort with decorating our table as we had just gotten married the week previous, even though they had only just found this out through chatting when we first arrived!
Big and tasty portion for lunch; would recommend the fish and chips and beef with Yorkshire puds.
Beautiful fresh fish and chips AND wonderfully Dog friendly even down to the provision of dog treats!
Right next to the walls for a walk
Welcoming friendly host
Full bar snacks menu and a la carte too
Enjoyed very much two lovely meals recently – early and late December – for birthdays. On both occasions had the venison which was the best ever ! Service was excellent – both young lady from Germany and on the latter occasion the owner. Both treated us very warmly, professionally but not “over the top”. The food also was excellent – hot and very tasty. Will definitely recommend to friends and will certainly be back !
My wife and I regularly do the journey between Newcastle and Dundee and thought we would treat ourselves to a bite to eat along with our canine companion. The positive reviews we read for the Queenshead lived up to expectation. Food and service were canny good! We will certainly be paying them another visit in the future.
Visited early evening in February with friends. Lots of choice on the menu, I had the venison stew followed by Lemon & Gin parfait, which were both excellent. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back, and I will take the dog next time having found out it welcomes dogs.
We were a cold, wet family of 7 adults, 1 baby after getting caught in bad weather walking. Despite not having booked we were readily accommodated for Sunday lunch. The staff were efficient and welcoming, the food was excellent and we had a thoroughly good time. We came once before mid-cycle ride and had the pheasant curry which was also fantastic.
Our fourth meal at the Queens Head and all have been excellent. This time we both had fillet steak, cooked to perfection in both cases and with really creative additions including haggis. Great cheese board and really friendly staff. We will be back.
We booked in the Queens restaurant for New Years Eve and had a great evening.
Arrival with a glass of bubbly in the bar then invited through to our table and the evening multi course taster menu. Starting with a plate of canapés through soup, fish, main, desert, cheese and coffee every course was beautifully put together, very very tasty and supplemented by a wonderful bottle of Italian Costalago Rosso Veronese.
Service was exceptional, very efficient but mixed with some very friendly chat.
I would have no hesitation recommending the Queens for both the quality of the food and the service, both are outstanding.
