This is a real gem of a restaurant.
It is in a great location, tastefully decorated inside and with attentive service.
I would recommend that you book first if at all possible as it is a very popular restaurant.
The food was fresh, home made and extremely tasty and well cooked.
I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to anyone wanting a good dining out experience.

This is a real gem of a restaurant.
Stayed here for 1 night on a trip down the east coast from Aberdeen to Berwick-upon-Tweed. This was a friendly welcoming place great food using locally sourced produce. We had room 5, a family room with a double and single bed. Good linen small but adequate en-suite shower room with lovely towels. A few nice touches like iron and board, fruit, twix and haribos.
There was free parking through the arch at the bottom of the road also on street with a 2 hour ticket provided by the hotel. The staff were helpful and breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit and good yoghurts.
Would definitely recommend here to anyone staying in Berwick.
Very enjoyable staying at this quaint refurbished hotel.
Excellent food and service, room was fine with splendid shower facilities
Would certainly stay there again next time we’re in Berwick upon Tweed
Nicest pub in Berwick , tastefully decorated with superb service and excellent food. The pub is situated near the fort walls in the old town which is far nicer than the town centre. I would definitely recommend and will be back hopefully.
We had trawled around looking for a place to eat (we are fussy !) The Queens Head looked ok and we were offered what turned out to be, very tasty, well presented rolls and a lovely pint of local ale. Just what we wanted !
We were welcomed, with our dog, to enjoy lunch inside the cosy restaurant. The food was excellent, cider was delicious and our dog appreciated the supply of dog treats offered offered by the friendly waitresses.
We stayed in Berwick Upon Tweed for one night and fortunately the owner of the B&B where we were staying recommended the Queens Head for dinner.
We dropped in during the day and booked a table for that evening.
Returning on the night we were greeted by the most pleasant, friendly and helpful staff, the menus was varied and my wife and I both went with a 3 course meal which was absolutely first class, I must also say that the Monk Fish I chose for my main course was the best I have ever tasted and I can assure you, I have Eaton a lot of Monkfish in a great many Restaurant’s.
Should you be visiting Berwick Upon Tweed, don’t miss out on the chance of enjoying some wonderful food, book a table at the Queens Head.
This is a charming little hotel – very welcoming, helpful staff. Attention to detail is amazing, with lots of thoughtful touches in the very well appointed rooms. Very comfortable bed, and a great shower! The food is excellent, and Gary is a terrific host. Our second stay, and we will definitely be back.
We have visited the Queens head several times recently since last review, firstly as 4 for Sunday lunch with our youngest son and his wife, secondly for an evening meal for 2 and thirdly as a family meal for 6 with children aged 9, 7, and 2, and can honestly say thoroughly enjoyed every meal and service, the children’s meal were home made and the kids really liked them no complaints and thinking they want to go back, our evening meal for 2 was excellent and could not fault the Sunday lunch, so all in all top notch
We stayed here recently and used to hotel as a base for a Golf Trip visiting courses in the local area. From the moment we arrived until we left Gary and his staff couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. The rooms are comfy and well equipped and have everything you would need. The meals are fantastic and on a par with hotels that would be twice or three times the price. We had dinner at the hotel the first night and it was superb we couldn’t wait for breakfast the next morning and we were not disappointed. All in all this a fantastic locally run hotel with a great selection of food and drink and great staff.
This is our third year staying at the Queens Head and it did not disappoint. A lovely stay in every respect and we were sorry to leave. Excellent room with plenty of space and lots of cupboards in the bathroom. Room really really clean – no problems with my dust allergy throughout. Breakfast very good. We ate here all four nights as the food is excellent. The Berwick crab salad starter is to die for but everything we had (monkfish, pork, venison) was superb. Staff remembered us and service was excellent, friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
Stayed here for 3nights on our wedding anniversary no worries. The girl who checked us in knew it was a special dinner that night at the hotel and decorated our table with fairy lights and a banner which was a nice touch. Our table was by the window and was lovely. Our meal was very good as was all our meals there. Plenty of choice at. Breakfast and all staff very pleasant and attentive. Comfortable beds and well appointed room. Would return if ever in the area again.
What a great find in Berwick Upon Tweed. The restaurant of the Queens Head Hotel will not disappoint. A welcoming team who immediately put you at ease in their lovely restaurant. We first visited in July 2017 when visiting Berwick Upon Tweed with friends and decided to return again when we visited again this year and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed fabulous starters and mains and complemented by a lovely wine list. Well worth a visit if you’re local you’re already know about it but if you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Berwick Upon Tweed there’s a good reason the Queens Head Hotel Restaurant is number 1 on Trip Advisor so check it out.
We booked this hotel and restaurant as an overnight stop. The hotel is excellent, grade 2 listed so a little quirky but lovely. Great greeting on arrival. The dinner was superb, service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was just lovely and I would highly recommend it.
Breakfast was very good too.
We enjoyed dinner, we all had a different meal and enjoyed it. The service was friendly, cheerful and efficient.
2nd visit and enjoyed it even more this time ! Food presentation, quality and mix of flavours was excellent. Service was exceptional and all staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. Dog also made very welcome and doggy treats made available. Will definitely be back . Thank you
We liked this restaurant so much that we went back the following evening. The salmon is especially recommended – the staff are helpful and friendly and Gary the owner is a superb host. Highly recommended!
Came for a family meal whilst visiting the area. Very good choice. Nice old building, good ambience, friendly staff and excellent food. Good bread and oil served first. Starters (scallops and crab with avocado) could have been a tad larger for the price, but were tasty. Mains were excellent – local haddock with thick chips – very good. Braised venison and a lasagne were also tasty. Good desserts and cheeseboard – altogether an excellent meal in nice surroundings. Highly recommend.
We come here fairly often. This time we took some friends and their dog. They come from London and were amazed at how good it was, and allowed to take their dog as well. There are some very good restaurants in Berwick and this is one of the best. We feel lucky to live close by! Excellent vegetarian choices and were prepared to offer vegan too so we were well catered for. The bread offered at the start is fantastic and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Service very friendly and attentive, but not OTT. Thank you, we’ll be back again soon!
Great hotel, with friendly staff. Especially the lady who serves you breakfast Thank you for making me feel so very welcome to everybody that works so hard to make their guests enjoy their stay. Although I did not eat an evening meal the night I stayed, I witnessed a a very busy restaurant. 10/10 guys keep it up. As Arnie, says I will be back.
Were in Berwick on a Sunday and surprisingly other restaurants were either fully booked or the newest one (only recently opened) was closing, despite it only being 7pm.. This place was busy but fitted us in, and the food was superb and the drinks fine.
Fantastic food lovely staff, would recommend to anyone. We are staying there next Friday, and having my fiftey wedding anniversary dinner with family and friends,it will be fabulous.
We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant, steak was cooked to perfection (venison and beef), nothing too much trouble for the staff and the owner/chef. Highly recommend it.
We had a lovely meal. Nortumberland sausage for the young one, poached salmon and haddock for the older ones, and salmon and duck for the middle aged ones. Excellent service and a very good meal. Also loved the local pint.
What a great find! Staff were warm and welcoming. The food (dinner) was splendid. Best of all were the beds and pillows (Room 1) – so comfortable. I could have slept all day after the clifftop walk at St Abbs Head (recommended). Would we come here again? Absolutely. Well done the Queen’s Head.
Had a lovely meal in the restaurant on Saturday evening. The restaurant was full with a nice friendly atmosphere. The starters were very good- crab and avocado and the scallops and then the main dish was oven baked salmon and was cooked so well. We finished our meal with the cheese selection also very good and well presented . Good selection of wines too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
