Testimonials

What a great find in Berwick Upon Tweed. The restaurant of the Queens Head Hotel will not disappoint. A welcoming team who immediately put you at ease in their lovely restaurant. We first visited in July 2017 when visiting Berwick Upon Tweed with friends and decided to return again when we visited again this year and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed fabulous starters and mains and complemented by a lovely wine list. Well worth a visit if you’re local you’re already know about it but if you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Berwick Upon Tweed there’s a good reason the Queens Head Hotel Restaurant is number 1 on Trip Advisor so check it out.

We booked this hotel and restaurant as an overnight stop. The hotel is excellent, grade 2 listed so a little quirky but lovely. Great greeting on arrival. The dinner was superb, service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was just lovely and I would highly recommend it.
Breakfast was very good too.

We liked this restaurant so much that we went back the following evening. The salmon is especially recommended – the staff are helpful and friendly and Gary the owner is a superb host. Highly recommended!

Came for a family meal whilst visiting the area. Very good choice. Nice old building, good ambience, friendly staff and excellent food. Good bread and oil served first. Starters (scallops and crab with avocado) could have been a tad larger for the price, but were tasty. Mains were excellent – local haddock with thick chips – very good. Braised venison and a lasagne were also tasty. Good desserts and cheeseboard – altogether an excellent meal in nice surroundings. Highly recommend.

We come here fairly often. This time we took some friends and their dog. They come from London and were amazed at how good it was, and allowed to take their dog as well. There are some very good restaurants in Berwick and this is one of the best. We feel lucky to live close by! Excellent vegetarian choices and were prepared to offer vegan too so we were well catered for. The bread offered at the start is fantastic and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Service very friendly and attentive, but not OTT. Thank you, we’ll be back again soon!

Great hotel, with friendly staff. Especially the lady who serves you breakfast Thank you for making me feel so very welcome to everybody that works so hard to make their guests enjoy their stay. Although I did not eat an evening meal the night I stayed, I witnessed a a very busy restaurant. 10/10 guys keep it up. As Arnie, says I will be back.

Were in Berwick on a Sunday and surprisingly other restaurants were either fully booked or the newest one (only recently opened) was closing, despite it only being 7pm.. This place was busy but fitted us in, and the food was superb and the drinks fine.

We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant, steak was cooked to perfection (venison and beef), nothing too much trouble for the staff and the owner/chef. Highly recommend it.

We had a lovely meal. Nortumberland sausage for the young one, poached salmon and haddock for the older ones, and salmon and duck for the middle aged ones. Excellent service and a very good meal. Also loved the local pint.

What a great find! Staff were warm and welcoming. The food (dinner) was splendid. Best of all were the beds and pillows (Room 1) – so comfortable. I could have slept all day after the clifftop walk at St Abbs Head (recommended). Would we come here again? Absolutely. Well done the Queen’s Head.

Had a lovely meal in the restaurant on Saturday evening. The restaurant was full with a nice friendly atmosphere. The starters were very good- crab and avocado and the scallops and then the main dish was oven baked salmon and was cooked so well. We finished our meal with the cheese selection also very good and well presented . Good selection of wines too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend!

We were visiting Berwick on Tweed for just one night on our Coast & Castles cycle ride.
As it was a Sunday our B&B hosts recommended the Queens Head and we weren’t disappointed. The menu is varied but we made short work of the delicious haddock, chips & petit pois and some yummy desserts. We would definitely recommend and return.

Called in while on a day trip to Berwick-upon-Tweed and not disappointed. A lovely airy restaurant area and friendly, attentive staff. A choice of a set menu (2 courses for £14.50) or the a la carte menu. We went for a mixture of the two: the venison burger was delicious; a very filling kedgeree; and, a good lasagne. However, best of all was the Queen’s Head banana split – delicious! Will definitely return on our next visit.

On a run to Berwick Upon Tweed this is the second time we have eaten in this Hotel!
Menu is a bit more upmarket than your usual little restaurants in the area!
But you definitely won’t be disappointed! I had a beer battered haddock with chunky home made chips, and not too many, just enough! My husband had a beautiful crab salad with a beautiful dressing on it! Just to die for!
The service from the staff was fabulous, especially the girl who is due a baby in 5 weeks! She just made the visit so special! Explained the menu and every dish on it!
Thank you so much and we will return soon!

Very happy experience. My venison was beautifully presented and really tender and flavoursome. My partner’s fish was a generous portion and again well cooked. Fresh veg on the side.
Staff were friendly and attentive.
Would def visit again

We have eaten here a few times and the food and service never fails to meet excellent standards. We had friends from Yorkshire the North and West of Scotland all of whom were in agreement about the quality of the meal was superb.

After coming off a boat trip (very cold) we went in the Queens Head and were warmed up by 2 whiskies! The staff were excellent and looked after us very well – the food was quick and delicious – very good lunchtime menu.

I had a lovely meal while on a short break in Berwick. I went in expecting a pub with food, Wetherspoon style, and was very pleasantly surprised that it was restaurant style with table service. I can thoroughly recommend the lasagne and would recommend The Queens Head to anyone.

The Queens Head is a gem , we were given a warm welcome, after a long drive, so really appreciated thoughtful personal touches in our room, bottles of water, some snacks and fruit. We were extremely comfortable, the room was quiet and relaxing. As we were passing through, we stayed only one night but would go back and explore the area , it’s a stunning and beautiful coastline steeped in history. Great food at dinner and a tasty breakfast, couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks so much to our hosts, I’m sure we will return!

Our favourite place for evening dinner in Berwick. An excellent menu and something of the atmosphere of an historic inn.

This small hotel ticked all the boxes for us. A very comfortable night in room 1, divine bed, quiet, loved the treats to spoil us, haribos, felt my inner child there! The restaurant evening meal was top class, sea bass just gorgeous and the puddings just yummy! We loved the town and sadly a second night in this wonderful hotel wasn’t available, will definitely recommend and hopefully return.

Looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening we came across the TA reviews on the Queens Head restaurant and made a booking. When we arrived we were shown to a small bar area for pre dining drinks and to study the menu. The three members of staff who served us through the evening were all very friendly and pleasant. The menu although not large has a good choice of options and for our main courses between us we opted for a pheasant curry, Pan seared venison and baked salmon. Everyone agreed the food was all tasty, cooked perfectly and very filling. We would all certainly recommend the restaurant.
