Our favourite place for evening dinner in Berwick. An excellent menu and something of the atmosphere of an historic inn.

We stayed at the Queens and used the restaurant for three nights the food is very high quality and substantial helpings all with great service
This small hotel ticked all the boxes for us. A very comfortable night in room 1, divine bed, quiet, loved the treats to spoil us, haribos, felt my inner child there! The restaurant evening meal was top class, sea bass just gorgeous and the puddings just yummy! We loved the town and sadly a second night in this wonderful hotel wasn’t available, will definitely recommend and hopefully return.
Looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening we came across the TA reviews on the Queens Head restaurant and made a booking. When we arrived we were shown to a small bar area for pre dining drinks and to study the menu. The three members of staff who served us through the evening were all very friendly and pleasant. The menu although not large has a good choice of options and for our main courses between us we opted for a pheasant curry, Pan seared venison and baked salmon. Everyone agreed the food was all tasty, cooked perfectly and very filling. We would all certainly recommend the restaurant.
Had a really excellent Sunday lunch today. Great food, freiendly efficient service, good beer, nice atmosphere. Good choice for Sunday Lumch, two or three courses. French onion soup, pate, roast beef, venison burger….all really tasty! Recommended.
Very friendly staff. The food was very good and served quickly. I liked the menu which had alternative options compared to what we had seen before.
Dropped in for lunch at the Queens Head hotel being dog friendly. Welcomed by smiling helpful staff. A cosy seating area around the bar & two areas for dining.
A nice welcoming atmosphere, very clean. The service was good & didn’t have to wait too long for the food even though it was full.
A very nice menu with a plethora of cuisines all freshly cooked & great daily specials. Delicious!
Good efficient service.
We stayed here for a week recently and enjoyed it so much we will be coming back. Our room was very comfortable, we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts and evening meals, and the staff were lovely and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. Although the hotel is just off the centre of Berwick the street is very quiet and we weren’t disturbed by traffic noise.
Beautiful fresh fish and chips AND wonderfully Dog friendly even down to the provision of dog treats! Highly recommended Right next to the walls for a walk Welcoming friendly host Not expensive Full bar snacks menu and a la carte too
We had dinner here and the food was just excellent. Great service as well. We would highly recommend a meal here and would definitely go again if we are in the area. It was fairly pricey in comparison to other restaurants around but definitely worth it.
We were staying at Wooler & busted for the day. Great service & staff. We sat outside as the weather was so nice.
We arrived just wanting a snack for lunch but the menu looked so good we both chose venison. It was beautifully cooked (we had specified how) and arrived garnished with a wonderful apple relish. The cappuccino cheesecake was delicious but we wished we had shared one portion between us.The staff were friendly and made some really helpful suggestion for the rest of the day. This was by far our best restaurant experience during a week in Northumberland and we would certainly have returned had we discovered it earlier in our stay.
Just around the corner from our B&B we discovered this restaurant on our last night in Berwick. The food was just delicious and very plentiful. My wife had Venison Liver to start and Duck Breast for mains – both were perfectly cooked and delicious.
We visited here on the strength of it being a dog friendly lunch time spot. We are so glad we did the food was delicious and the service very friendly. Well worth a visit if your in the local area.
Great food and lovely service. Very welcoming for a Saturday night when we had children with us. The homemade breads were amazing with the balsamic vinegars and olive oil, especially the jalapeño bread
visited last Friday for lunch and as usual was superb. We both had the baked salmon with brown shrimp and saffron sauce. We followed this with sticky toffee pudding and chocolate cheesecake. if you are in the area and are wanting to eat then look no further as this is simply unbeatable. Many thanks Gary and your lovely staff for a great dining experience. We will certainly be back. Regards Chris and Monica
We found the Queens Head on the doggiepubs website and we’re not disappointed. The food was excellent. We are from the specials menu and had Haddock and Chips (in top 5 of fish and chips ever) and chicken curry which was delicately spiced with just a bit of heat. The warmed carrot cake was amazing and made a delicious meal. I would definitely recommend.
We just dropped in on the off chance of getting a table on Saturday night, we we’re soon accommodated and enjoyed a very lovely meal in relaxing surroundings being served by very friendly staff. 2 Venison casseroles and 1 fish and chips later we enjoyed yummy puddings too. Would definitely recommend.
Found this place by chance while wandering around Berwick thinking about lunch. Were greeted by a quietly enthusiastic and helpful young lady, who seated us and quickly took and delivered our drinks. We o my wanted a light lunch, and we ordered the soup and sandwich ‘special’. We Were served with a delicious and not bowl of soup and a half sandwich, which was also very nice. Good value at under £7.00. The young lady must have been powered by duracell, as she was constantly on the move, efficiently taking and delivering orders with a pleasant and cheerful manner. Place was spotless. Would recommend.
My wife and I stopped off in Berwick-upon-Tweed to break up our drive and to have some lunch and called in here. Staff are all really welcoming and friendly and made special effort with decorating our table as we had just gotten married the week previous, even though they had only just found this out through chatting when we first arrived!
Whether you are eating or staying you would have to go along way to beat The Queen’s Head. The food so tasty, staff so nice and friendly, the rooms so comfortable and well appointed. I would recommend this Hotel and Restaurant to anybody. If we lived closer would visit regularly, love the town, the area and the Queen’s Head. Sorry we did not fined it earlier.
We regularly eat here on our “date nights” when child free, food is always exceptional, we visited the restaurant on Saturday 27th October, we had Parma ham, halloumi amd pear starter which was beautiful, for our mains we had the belly pork which came with vegetable selections, this was truly mouth watering and full of flavour, the service was as always second to none and very personal, thanks for making a lovely night with the exceptional food and service
We where made very welcome from entering to leaving, food here is excellent had many a meal. Very clean.
