Testimonials

We’ve been to the Queens Head four or five times in the past couple of years. The welcome is always genuine and service attentive and friendly. I find it difficult not to order the lasagne as it’s just the best I’ve ever had eating out. So rely on the other half to order different stuff which has included pheasant curry, fish pie, steak….. all homemade inc. breads and dips before your meal is served. Nice little bar area for pre dinner drink. Visitors should definitely put it on their list and locals should already know it’s just brill.

I don’t know why anyone would want to eat any place else in Berwick – great food – great service – but it’s the small touches, fresh baked bread on the table AND a jug of water – fresh plants as decor, great coffee and small requests, like asking for a dessert wine, dealt with in a friendly, but service orientated manner, that make this the place to go. This place deserves your service and patronage and we would travel from the central belt of Scotland just to eat here! Fantastic.

Had a fantastic lunch here with family, didn’t book but were seated no problem. The service was impeccable from start to finish, nothing seemed too much trouble. The fresh bread basket served with a tapenade was delicious, beer battered fish and chips was really fresh and homemade chicken curry was very tasty. Good portion sizes. Children’s breaded chicken was cooked to perfection and again a great sized portion. Would definitely visit again!

The food was wonderful, and the staff was all welcoming and considerate. While I was there for such a brief time, I would like to return some day again.

We were on a visit to walk the walls of Berwick and take a boat trip, and after freezing on a stormy morning we were keen to get our kids out of the cold… stumbled onto the restaurant here very early (about 11.30am) and were made very welcome immediately. We had two dogs with us (12 people altogether) and the restaurant wasn’t even open yet but they immediately got everyone sitting down, treats for the dogs, tables arranged in a lovely space, and everyone eating before 12. Fish and chips were excellent and fresh, children’s food came with an amazing bowl of cooked mixed veg (parsnips were the winning item for our kids!), apparently the vegan risotto was also very good… the staff all stopped by and chatted to us in a friendly way and we could not have asked for anything nicer.
The bill was extremely reasonable at the end too. Can’t recommend enough if you’re looking for somewhere friendly and welcoming for a family stop.

The rooms are lovely and the food is even better. The location is perfect and there is lots of on street parking out front and in the public car park behind. Cyclists will appreciate the private back yard where they can leave their bikes and the fact that the local bike shop is right behind in case they need anything.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. I couldn’t recommend it more.

Good food and friendly service. Both had the filet steak and it was excellent. Reasonably priced as well. Located in the centre of town, it could not have been more convenient for our B&B at the Walls.

We stayed a night at the Queens head hotel and it was just what we needed. A lovely room with little added extras always makes you feel a bit more special than just a bogstandard room. We had dinner as well which was great, we liked the local produce on offer, and breakfast the next day had a good variety of foid to see you through

Excellent food, excellent service, great choice, intelligent conversation. This hotel-restaurant is rightly popular amongst the discerning gourmet. We really enjoyed our meals here and would visit again in a heartbeat.

Staying at a local caravan park we popped into Berwick and decided to have some lunch. We went for the 2 courses for £14.50.
I had the salmon which was really nicely done and tasty. My partner and mother both had the lasagne and were impressed that everything including the garlic bread was home made.
We were given a plate of fresh breads prior to the starters which was a lovely touch.

The Queen’s Head is quaint and comfortable. It’s a lovely old building with all amenities and my room was fine. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were professional and helpful.

Location is good, with a number of restaurants and pubs nearby and you can start your walk on the town’s famous city walls nearby.

We chanced upon this very nice hotel restaurant after a day walking around the lovely old town. Service was excellent food very good and an all round nice experience.

I chose this restaurant because of the Tripadvisor reviews. I was not disappointed. A basket with 3 types of interesting and delicious bread, along with sun-dried tomato infused oil is brought to your table. I love that. I ordered the salmon, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and very fresh. It was served with an herb butter and asparagus. My side dish was a beautiful, hot, assortment of veg, including zuchinni, carrots, potatoes, (which were yummy), and green beans. I finished with the parfait, which was amazing. It’s a lemon meringue topped with fresh raspberry sauce. It was the perfect ending to a pefect meal.

This is a real gem of a restaurant.
It is in a great location, tastefully decorated inside and with attentive service.
I would recommend that you book first if at all possible as it is a very popular restaurant.
The food was fresh, home made and extremely tasty and well cooked.
I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to anyone wanting a good dining out experience.

Struggled on Friday, 1 June 2018 to find somewhere to eat in Berwick. Called in to the Queens Head Hotel. We were immediately welcomed, seated and served with a drink and presented with the menu. The restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly. My husband had salmon and I opted for Lasagne. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Iced water and a selection of Italian breads on the table. What a lovely evening. The staff were hard working and attentive. There is nothing I could fault. It’s not the cheapest place to eat but you pay for the quality. It is value for money. Highly recommended.

Very enjoyable staying at this quaint refurbished hotel.
Excellent food and service, room was fine with splendid shower facilities
Would certainly stay there again next time we’re in Berwick upon Tweed

Nicest pub in Berwick , tastefully decorated with superb service and excellent food. The pub is situated near the fort walls in the old town which is far nicer than the town centre. I would definitely recommend and will be back hopefully.
