Testimonials

We had a lovely meal at the hotel on Friday evening after arriving late in Berwick Upon Tweed.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive and the food was excellent.

My wife had a venison stew and I had fish and chips which we both enjoyed.

I have just spent 2 nights in this delightful hotel. Staff were very welcoming and service excellent, food was absolutely great with a super selection. Lovely kippers for breakfast which was a bonus. Room very comfortable and clean. Cant wait to stay again!

We had dinner twice at the Queens Head, a pleasant, quiet restaurant in the lower part of town. The food is excellent and well-presented, and the staff are friendly and attentive. My wife is gluten-free, and that was taken into consideration. Highly recommended!

Lovely atmosphere very welcoming, clean, and a friendly host. Food was absolutely delicious. Venison cooked to perfection. Perfect pheasant curry. Lasagne and a luvli chicken dish. Followed by sticky toffee pudding, ice cream and a cheeseboard. (4 of us) Great menu to choose from. Definitely visit again!!

A lovely cosy comfortable dining room.
The food was excellent and the Staff very attentive.
We were there for a pre Birthday meal and were made to feel really welcome. The menu had a good selection of locally sourced meats and fish , the vegetables were nicely cooked and hot.
There was a cake brought to the table even although they were not aware on Booking that it was for a birthday. A very nice touch. We will definitely go there again.

Fantastic dinner very accommodating of our somewhat ‘fussy’ requirements. Beautiful steaks and a very nice pint.

My husband and I joined my sister and brother in law for a meal together and as they live in Berwick, they chose the restaurant. The welcome was warm and we were offered drinks in the bar before we were shown to our table. The décor was lovely and the atmosphere very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful with the menu which was varied and had something to suit us all. Each of us chose different things for each of the courses and all of us were delighted with out choices. We were most impressed and would recommend it to anyone for a special meal.

I was visiting Berwick with my family and partner and decided on The Queens Head Hotel for my birthday meal. The service was amazing and all done by one lady on her own, she had her hands full but was always smiling and very attentive. The food was lovely especially the lasagne, I would highly recommend this place.

Very friendly and helpful service. The Sunday lunch was delicious – big portions and creative choices. We really enjoyed our meal here, and they were so lovely to us, our kids, and our dog. Highly recommend!

Absolutely gorgeous meals served by great staff. Salmon was cooked to perfection. You get a selection of artisan breads with dips while you wait for your meal. Brilliant

We’ve been to the Queens Head four or five times in the past couple of years. The welcome is always genuine and service attentive and friendly. I find it difficult not to order the lasagne as it’s just the best I’ve ever had eating out. So rely on the other half to order different stuff which has included pheasant curry, fish pie, steak….. all homemade inc. breads and dips before your meal is served. Nice little bar area for pre dinner drink. Visitors should definitely put it on their list and locals should already know it’s just brill.

I don’t know why anyone would want to eat any place else in Berwick – great food – great service – but it’s the small touches, fresh baked bread on the table AND a jug of water – fresh plants as decor, great coffee and small requests, like asking for a dessert wine, dealt with in a friendly, but service orientated manner, that make this the place to go. This place deserves your service and patronage and we would travel from the central belt of Scotland just to eat here! Fantastic.

Had a fantastic lunch here with family, didn’t book but were seated no problem. The service was impeccable from start to finish, nothing seemed too much trouble. The fresh bread basket served with a tapenade was delicious, beer battered fish and chips was really fresh and homemade chicken curry was very tasty. Good portion sizes. Children’s breaded chicken was cooked to perfection and again a great sized portion. Would definitely visit again!

Whilst staying in Craster we decided to have a trip to Berwick upon Tweed and fancying lunch we checked TripAdvisor and this lovely pub came up with good reviews. We had salmon fish cakes and goats cheese tart and then both had the haddock and chips. The food was fantastic. The restaurant was busy with a couple of big tables, but the staff worked really hard and no one had to wait. Big thumbs up to the chef as well!

Getting out of Edinburgh after the snow we alighted here for a bite with a friend who lives in the town. Owing to road works we were horribly late – no problem, no fuss. Despite this being a fairly old hotel, they have made the most of the dining room without altering the character. Freshly decorated, open and friendly, catering for families, dogs, the lot. We didn’t test the kitchen much, but fish and chips are always a good litmus test. Flavoursome fish, well cooked, home made chips. Good sticky toffee pud. Very pleasant smiley service. I can recommend it for lunch

The rooms are lovely and the food is even better. The location is perfect and there is lots of on street parking out front and in the public car park behind. Cyclists will appreciate the private back yard where they can leave their bikes and the fact that the local bike shop is right behind in case they need anything.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. I couldn’t recommend it more.

The food was wonderful, and the staff was all welcoming and considerate. While I was there for such a brief time, I would like to return some day again.

We loved this restaurant on our short break to Berwick! Went on our 8 year old sons 8th birthday. The service and food was wonderful! Unique freshly cooked menus with proper choices for kids not the standard chicken nugget patronising menu my son hates!

It was so good we booked for the following night and it didn’t disappoint! Highly recommend.
