Staff deserve a pay rise!
After having problems finding somewhere to eat in Berwick, on a Sunday evening, we decided to return to The Queens Head as we have been there before. Luckily they had a table free. They had a very large party in, 12 or more. Shortly after we arrived more people came in to ask for a table, probably having had the same problem that we did. They were all warmly welcomed and accommodated. Within half an hour the place was full!
The 2 waiting staff, unfortunately I didn’t get their names, worked tirelessly to fulfill all the drinks and food orders and everyone seemed more than happy! The whole atmosphere was very convivial and relaxed.
The food was very good too! I dread to think what the kitchen staff were facing but they rose to the occasion!
My only, ever so slightly negative, comment would be that it was a tad expensive, 2 mains and a bottle of wine almost £60. We would return when we have saved up!
Thanks to all the staff! You need a medal!!

Great spot for lunch
Looking for a place to have lunch on a bank holiday Monday and luckily chose this spot. Prompt and very friendly service, interesting menu. Food we chose was lovely as was the bread with dipping sauce offered at the start. Two and three course set menus were excellent value. Nice cosy atmosphere.

Good dinner
We went there for dinner on a quiet Sunday evening in Berwick, and were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the dining room was pleasant. The serving staff were efficient & friendly, especially the young lady with whom we had a nice conversation in German!

stayed here with my Son on the way back from Edinburgh,What a great Place to stay Gary the owner was so friendly,Had a great room all very clean.
My Son and myself had Haddock and Chips it was so nice and fresh, was followed by a great desert.
Smashing Breakfast in the morning after one of the best nights sleep i have had in a hotel in along time,Its such a shame that a premier Inn is being built right next door, hopefully it doesnt affect trade to much in the future.

Quality food and lovely atmosphere
We were visitig Verwick and were arriving on a Sunday evening. Having read reviews on Trip Advisor we booked in advance – and were so glad we did !
The restaurant serves high quality and imaginative dishes – locally sourced. The atmmosphere was extremely convivial which was created by the two hard working hosts who manage to stay on top of a busy place with warm smiles and engaging conversation.
A word of praise for the kitchen that handle the quality ingredients with a lightness of touch that should be commended. The citrus source that accompanied the lamb was spot on for a warm summers evening. We were so impressed that we ate here twice during our stay.
If you are in Berwick – eat here – you will not regret it.

antastic meal
We arrived here expecting a fairly ordinary meal but nothing could be further from the truth, the meal and service were fantastic. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The Duck salad is gorgeous and the steak was beautiful and don’t get me started on the veg, the courgettes were superb, I would have happily eaten a plate full of those alone they were so good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Wonderful food and warm, friendly service
It’s been a long time since I was truly impressed by the gastronomy in a British hotel. Surroundings were understated, but the food was exquisite. I had the venison pate, the sea bass and the sticky toffee pudding. All three courses were cooked to perfection. My 7 year old daughter’s fish was also perfect. Sticky toffee pudding was a standout winner- as the ginger was thoroughly present. Not too expensive. Service was excellent and unpretentious. Absolutely recommend

Excellent meal
Last port of call after 64 miles of the Northumbria way. Nice place , friendly staff and an excellent evening meal. Busy even on a Monday night and can see why .

Nice little hotel in a cute little seaside town
Came across this place by accident, after stopping for a break and take in the view of the sea. Asked about a room and they were very gracious and showed us around. Room was very nice. Decided to have dinner and it was top notch. Would highly recommend.

Lovely dog friendly restaurant
The dogs were very welcome in this lovely restaurant, they even had jar full of dog treats available on the window sill.
The food was amazing and very tasty. One of the best meals we had had on our weeks trip. I think we saved the best to last.

Terrific food and service in a wonderful atmosphere
We chose this at the last minute and felt we really lucked out. Friendly and helpful service including great advice on an unusual but delicious wine choice – Romanian pinot noir. The venison starter is gorgeous, the rack of lamb fabulous & the tiramisu a delicious treat – and the whole place seems to be a well run, happy business. You’d do well to find better in Berwick I reckon.

Chance encounter – good result!
Sometimes it’s just best to wander round a new town and let your eyes, and your intuition, do the deciding. We were halfway towards another restaurant destination when we just liked the look, the blackboard, the style of this erstwhile standard pub close to the river.

So glad we chose it! The welcome and the food were genuine and hand crafted. Dishes were fresh and original and promptly served despite the rush of customers arriving all at once!

I think we’ll book next time, just to be sure…

Fantastic Meal
We have not been to this restaurant before but decided to visit tonight and were so glad that we did.

When we arrived we were seated in the bar to look at the menu and order drinks. After ordering we were shown to our table in a lovely dining room.

We had ordered the Seabass and rolled Plaice stuffed with fish mousse. Both were absolutely delicious and were served with vegetables and roast potatoes.

We then had sticky toffee puff and lemon meringue parfait. Again both delicious.

The staff were very friendly and professional.

We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return again. A great find.

Fantastic service and food
We visited for lunch on a Sunday with 2 children. As soon as we entered the restaurant the service was faultless, everyone was helpful and friendly. The menu choice had a selection that should suit everyone and there was a good children’s menu. The service was quick and the portions were of a good size. We all had 2 courses which was definitely plenty. Would highly recommend eating here, you won’t be disappointed.

Restaurant
We visited the restaurant at the Queens Head. Delicious good. The fillet steak was best I’ve had. Hosts wine choice complemented food really well. We were well looked after. Would highly recommend a visit

Delicious dinner
Wow dinner here was fantastic. The staff managed to squeeze us in to a busy restaurant when we had no reservation. The food was amazing. I had the venison which was divine. The wife had the chicken curry and my daughter had the breaded chicken breasts. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was also great.
A great dining experience.

Lovely hotel with fabulous restaurant
We spent two nights at the Queens Head and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was lovely, everything you’d expect with additional touches – fresh milk offered, chocolate, a good selection of magazines

The restaurant was superb – we ate there on both evenings as we had been so impressed on our first night. Delicious food, a good varied choice of local produce and an excellent wine list. Just a shame we live 200 miles away as it would be a regular haunt.

The staff were all excellent – friendly and professional

Location was also great – a stones throw from the ramparts, sea views and the town centre. Parking was easy – free permit parking outside and a free car park 50m away

Would thoroughly recommend the Queens Head – great to visit a hotel that recognises and provides excellent service

Fantastic anniversary meal
We had a great night at the Queen’s Head. We had drinks on arrival, our order was taken quickly (great choice) and then we were shown to our table, and our starters arrived quickly thereafter.
As we had mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, our table was even decorated. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their starters and then the main – 3 steaks and 1 salmon were delicious and the perfect portion size. We all then had desserts and coffee followed by a drink at the bar as we didn’t want the night to end.
Great night as always!

Fabulous food
Lovely restuarant and atmosphere with very friendly service. Goats cheese pate and venison liver were both beautiful. Lots of choice on the menu. Didn’t stay in the hotel but would definitely visit again.

Great menu and service
Dinner for 3 at a reasonable price. We all had different main courses and no-one was disappointed, My beef fillet steak was cooked perfectly and was a generous portion. The sticky toffee pudding was also a delight and rounded things out nicely. Just passing through the town for a few days when we found this place, but would definitely go again and would recommend.

Lovely Restaurant
We stumbled across this hotel and restaurant on a wet morning in Berwick upon Tweed and had lunch. The staff were welcoming and the menu had plenty of choices and the food was fresh, hot and delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to have dinner as well later that day. This restaurant is located at the bottom of a hill and could easily be overlooked which would be a shame as having looked at other restaurants in Berwick when trying to decide when to eat, we thought this was an excellent choice.

Another enjoyable stay in Berwick-upon-Tweed
We have been coming to the Queens Head Hotel for some years, initially to dine when we stayed in our motorhome but we have stayed in the hotel for the past two years having previously enjoyed the very high standard of food when just having lunch or dinner.
From the initial welcome by owner Garry, who took a quick break from looking after customers in the dining room to take our luggage to our room, to our farewell ten nights later by the ever smiling & helpful Katja, we had a most enjoyable stay.
Our room was well furnished with the necessary requirements and the beds particularly comfortable.
The freshly cooked breakfasts with the choice of fresh fruit, etc provided the perfect start to each day and the dinners, when we dined at the hotel, the perfect end!
Such was our enjoyment that we have already reserved “our room” for 10 nights next August!

Called in on the offchance the other week on a Friday evening. Two fish and chips and one venison. Absolutely superb. Welcoming and attentive staff who didn’t raise an eyebrow when I managed to knock water everywhere. Beautiful selection of breads and dips followed by the excellent main courses. I hasten to add, didn’t leave room for anything else. Thank you so much. As an aside, being an older, single woman, wouldn’t feel any discomfort in eating here on my own.
